{"id":391,"date":"2010-02-10T13:17:41","date_gmt":"2010-02-10T19:17:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.pastorfrog.com\/?p=391"},"modified":"2010-02-10T13:22:20","modified_gmt":"2010-02-10T19:22:20","slug":"second-advent","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.pastorfrog.com\/?p=391","title":{"rendered":"Second Advent"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>I think all the prophecy that pointed to Jesus coming is pretty cool.\u00a0 I watch movies all the time where there\u2019s some sort of prophecy to be fulfilled, and I remember back when Nostradamus was popular in the media, but the movies are just somebody\u2019s imagination and the Nostradamus stuff is just so random that you really have to stretch to make it fit any real events.\u00a0 But the prophesies about Jesus are real life!\u00a0 And there are just so many things that match perfectly with his family line for generations and where he\u2019d be born and how he would die and so much stuff.\u00a0 So, of course, the natural conclusion is, if the prophecy about his first coming was proven, we can be pretty sure about the prophesy of his second coming.\u00a0 And that means a lot of people are going to be in big trouble if they\u2019re not ready.\u00a0 And the Bible is pretty clear that you don\u2019t survive the Judgment of Christ by the skin of your teeth.\u00a0 It\u2019s an all or nothing thing.<\/p>\n<p>A lot of people do religion with a 51% attitude.\u00a0 They figure as long as they do a little more good than bad, they\u2019ll be ok.\u00a0 Or they think that God grades on a curve.\u00a0 So as long as their morality is slightly above average they\u2019ll be fine.\u00a0 But Jesus demands perfection.\u00a0 And people who don\u2019t accept that are in for some sad consequences when Jesus comes back.<\/p>\n<p>Of course most people see religion as jumping through hoops and checking off lists, and they totally miss out on the purpose of living for God.\u00a0 They miss out that God offers grace so that we can stop living in the past, so we can throw off all that old wicked baggage and start with a clean slate.\u00a0 It\u2019s like God changing your \u201cF\u201d to an \u201cA\u201d and giving us the Holy Spirit as a tutor to help us keep that \u201cA.\u201d\u00a0 Plus when you realize how much more enjoyable it is to live a good life and to be motivated by love instead of all the bad junk, then you start living a pure life for the joy of it, and religion becomes a pleasurable opportunity.\u00a0 You look forward to Christ\u2019s return because you love obeying him, and you can\u2019t wait to share the pleasure of his company.\u00a0 If you miss that crucial point, religion does nothing but offer hoops to jump through and rules to keep track of, and you wind up being lost in your failures.<\/p>\n<p>Religion without true love for God is a joke.\u00a0 If you think you can please the Almighty God of Heaven with an impersonal 51% effort or a C+ attitude, I\u2019ve got some really bad news for you.<\/p>\n<p class=\"powerpress_links powerpress_links_mp3\" style=\"margin-bottom: 1px !important;\">Podcast: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pastorfrog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sermons\/081228-secondadvent.mp3\" class=\"powerpress_link_pinw\" target=\"_blank\" title=\"Play in new window\" onclick=\"return powerpress_pinw('https:\/\/www.pastorfrog.com\/?powerpress_pinw=391-podcast');\" rel=\"nofollow\">Play in new window<\/a> | <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pastorfrog.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sermons\/081228-secondadvent.mp3\" class=\"powerpress_link_d\" title=\"Download\" rel=\"nofollow\" download=\"081228-secondadvent.mp3\">Download<\/a> (Duration: 32:28 &#8212;
